Shared Values and Share Value: Asset Management for Responsible Capitalism

Date: 21.03.18 | Time: 4.00-5.45PM | Location: Committee Room 17, House of Commons
How do we harness the power of the City of London, to build a good economy, where wealth is more fairly shared? How can society’s trust in the financial industry be rebuilt? And, how can we better utilise the City as a force for inclusive capitalism?

The APPG on Inclusive Growth and Pension Insurance Corporation plc (PIC) are delighted to announce an exciting new initiative on the ‘Purpose of Finance’. Help us kick off our new programme on March 21st with the parliamentary launch of an important new report on how we harness the power of trillions of pounds under investment, to rebuild a more inclusive economy. Whether it is infrastructure or business investment, we urgently need new approaches to putting capital to more productive use for wider economic growth.

Jon Lukomnik, pensions and corporate governance expert, and Professor Jim Hawley, Head of Applied Research at TruValue Labs, will present key findings from their new thought-provoking PIC-sponsored paper on The Purpose of Asset Management which will be published on the day of the event. We will then open up a wider roundtable discussion around questions relating to the industry: investment decisions, regulation, short-termism; fund proliferation and intermediation.
